How come Shane does not end up with anyone?

From the movie The L word...I was thinking that maybe there is a 7th season or even a movie, but I would like to see Shane settle down. I was so heartbroken when she asked carmen to marry her and it did not happen. Why couldn't she settle down with someone if there isn't going to be anymore seasons!?
