AGH! Question on LVN or RN on time for schooling etc?

Okay, I think my cousin's girlfriend is a con artist. How many years does it take to obtain an LVN or RN or whatever the initials may be, for their license. Also, if you get this license in say Colorado, can you transfer to California. She claims to have this license (among other license) but for the past severel months hasn't worked a job and claims McDonald's is hiring her. When asked about the license she claims she has, she says it's only good in colorado that she'd have to go through the whole schooling in order to do that. That to me sounds like a crock! Is my feeling right, or is this true? I'm not a doctor, but I think she's scamming my cousin! Could someone give me some insite here please!
